The Strawberry Fields Onlus team is on the lookout for anyone who wants to help keep things running and spread the word. There is no need to go far to give concrete help, anyone can contribute to the success of our projects thanks to a job of supporting the activities of the no-profit organization. We seek and welcome adults, boys, women, men and children who can give active participation. But what exactly is it about? Here are some examples:
Remember: Investing your time by becoming a volunteer is the biggest donation you can make!
The Organisation co-ordinates volunteer groups at different times of the year, looking for people ready to go to Ethiopia who will be able to give their help in teaching and manual activities for at least 3 weeks; time considered appropriate to give real, meaningful and concrete help. The Organisation will prepare programs to be held while staying in Ethiopia so that every short period contributes to the creation of long-term programs.
This is why “Strawberry Fields Onlus” offers short-term international training and volunteering trips to Ethiopia. What we propose is not a simple trip to Africa, but the choice to share a strong experience with us, which will bring you closer and in touch with poor children, street children, AIDS-sick orphans, but who will be able to give you a lot.
In Addis Ababa, we collaborate with St. John Baptist de La Salle Institute, a Lasallian school run by Brother Kassu Fantaye. The activities will be many, including teaching basic English and/or Mathematics lessons to children, performing social activities with them, organising recreational activities and pertinent initiatives. In Dire Dawa we collaborate with the orphanage Abune Endrias, run by the Capuchin Friars. In the orphanage there are girls from 4 to 18 years of age. Here, we teach them how to cook, take care of themselves and their “home”, we compare and give advice in particular on delicate topics. We also help them do their homework and make sure they attend classes and excel as best as possible at school.
