School education and support for the Ethiopian people

Our mission

Strawberry Fields Onlus is a non-profit association based in Milan, Italy. Since 2015 it has been active and working in Africa in the field of education, basic needs, local support and volunteeringby organizing development projects in Ethiopia.

The Ethiopian population is estimated at around 112 million people, 26.7% of whom live in absolute poverty, living with no more than $1.90 a day.

This not only denies the universal right to a dignified life, but also prevents the majority of children in the country from having access to primary school education.

FOUNDERS

In light of these facts, Strawberry Fields Onlus has set itself precise objectives:

Making primary education accessible to as many children as possible, believing that school education is a right to be guaranteed and protected.

Concretely supporting the basic needs of women and men.

Raising funds and financially supporting solidarity projects for the Ethiopian people.

Organizing volunteer activities in Ethiopia as well as in Italy.

Protecting the most vulnerable, caring for people

Strawberry Fields Onlus was born from the idea and above all from the heart of three girls: Maria Vittoria, Diva Maddalena e Francesca

During their schooling at the Istituti Filippin (Veneto, Italy), they come into contact with the religious order of the De La Salle Brothers of the Christian Schools as well as with the cardinal principles on which the lay religious congregation was founded: to give free education and instruction to children from the poorest classes.

Maria Vittoria, Diva Maddalena and Francesca decided to go as volunteers to Ethiopia, between Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa, and once back in Italy they joined forces to found Strawberry Fields Onlus together in 2015. Strawberry Fields Onlus.

Strawberry Fields Onlus' mission can be pursued only thanks to the passionate commitment of the many people who offer their invaluable and indispensable support and collaboration.

There are many people who help the Association. Among them, Brother Kassu Fantaye in particular. Br. Kassu, who is the spiritual and operational guide of the non-profit organisation, is an Ethiopian religious Brother who has chosen to dedicate his life to the promotion of education. He is currently the Headmaster of St. John Baptist de La Salle Catholic School, located in the outskirts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The school offers education to the children living in the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Orphanage and to those living in nearby districts, for a total of 1,649 pupils.
